TALES Festival in Taiwan

Its back to Taiwan! Back to Jack Studio! This time to attend the "TALE In Wonderland Festival". Held from 8-9 April, its consists of the actual TALE In Wonderland event and the individual group's 'One Man Live' the day after. TALE Fes usually hold their events in Hong Kong, however for this iteration, they brought it to Taiwan. For this edition, groups attending were Beboga, Nijicon, Wasuta, Ariel Project and Tukuyomi Idol Project.

TALE in Wonderland and Group's One Man Live!

The actual TALE event has 2 sessions and we opt to go both of them. By experience, we went straight to the merchandise area to buy some goods and tokuten privileges. This is to avoid us worrying about missing performance or clash of schedules before their 2nd session. It was a good choice as goods for Wasuta sold out pretty quickly.

Interior of Jack Studio

Jack Studio is quite a small venue. As mentioned before, I found it cosy though and its atmosphere is the closest you can get for an underground idol live experience. Dedicated wotas lined up flower gifts for the groups attending as evident in the photos below.

Even Ariel Project has flowers too!
Welcome to TALE in Wonderland!

Ariel Project and Tukuyomi Idol Project

First up are the cover groups Ariel Project and Tsukuyomi Idol Project. I am immensely impressed with the amount of talent and dedication these overseas cover groups have during performance. Ariel Project hails from Hong Kong and it is a quite known idol group. In fact, they been invited to attend Japan's @JAM event last year. They did some good covers like Maneki's Joudan Janai and RTK's Muteki Mode.

Tsukuyomi Idol Project on the other hand is their local group. Some of the cover songs they did were those meido cafes. Yeap, BINGO! They hail from a maid cafe located in Kaohsiung (https://www.facebook.com/MAIDCAFE2943/) Kinda felt nostalgic hearing them covering Mune Mune Kyun and Happy Happy Morning.

Beboga aka Baseball Girls aka Nijicon Yellow

This is my first time seeing Beboga (aka BaseBall Girls). This group joined pixiv somewhere last year and became 'Nijicon Yellow'. They have a some catchy songs especially ドラマよりもドラマティック .  They have adorable nicknames which they wore across on their attire. Cocotan, Airi, Rikannu, Mito-chan, Ayapamu and Perorin. Alright, remembered them all!

Perorin is their popular member as long line of fans queue for her 2-shot / sign opportunity. Its evident at their performance too, where you can witness a sea of yellow light sticks together with shouts of 'Perorin' and 'Sensei' flooding the area.

Perorin is indeed a nice and charming person, with her demeanour reminiscent of a local performer I personally know. Very surprised at how attentive and responsive she was during our short chat. As buppan for Beboga stopped, I only managed to procure 2-shot opportunity with just Perorin. Would love to have a handshake session with them so that I can properly introduce myself to the members.

Perorin-Sensei!

For their One Man Live, we arrived the venue late as our focus was mainly Nijicon and Wasuta. We managed to see their encore songs though. Well at least we can see the banner hung on stage.

Niji No Conquistadors

This is a good which no need further introduction. Members attending this event were Tsurumi Moe, Okumura Nonoka, Nakamura Akari, Matoba Karin and Nemoto Nagi! To suit the occasion, the members wore chinese themed costume. This group doesnt need any further introduction, in fact they are already well known among the community. They performed some of their newer songs such as LOVE麺 恋味 やわめ and †ノーライフベイビー・オブ・ジ・エンド†. Of course, Nijicon wont be complete without their iconic 'Triangle Dreamer'.

I met up with Nemo-chan again. I guess I made Nonota disappointed as most of the events they went overseas, Nemo is absent. She made a funny face when I smiled at her but all is good in the end. Interaction with Nijicon can be an amazing experience especially with Nemo. She expressing her elatedness once again made going to Taiwan all worthwhile.

Nemo Chinese attire is hnnnnggghhh

During their One Man Live, they don their another attire. Its a non-stop marathon of songs, which shows Nijicon is not just all cute, they do have the stamina and tenacity to last the extra mile. Just see the setlist posted by Karin.

Amazingly, they didnt perform Paradoxical Complex. There goes our chance doing the Chikipa mix. My last buppan for day 2 is again with Nemo. 'Hisashiburi' and some childish banter afterwards, the session for Nijicon comes to an end.

The World Standard

Wasuta again didnt disappoint with their cheerful energy and awesome performance. As expected of groups from IDOLSTREET. Also Wasuta is only group you can take photos and videos during their performances! Finally some photos for my blog!

Wasuta Wasuta World Standard

Hello Ha-chin

Finally heard 'Just be yourself' live. Their うるとらみらくるくるふぁいなるアルティメットチョコびーむ and  いぬねこ。青春真っ盛り is kinda the 'lets-unite-all-wotas' song with loads of furicopy and oshi-jumping here and there. They did quite a number of classic anime songs such as Digimon's Butterfly, Naruto's GO and One Piece's We Are! They even slot in some Love Live in the form of 'Snow Halation'.

As funds getting low and their goods are not exactly cheap, I opt for an exclusive 'Sakamoto Hazuki' T-Shirt.
Hachin 2-shot incoming

Buy this exclusive T-Shirt will nail you a mobile 2-shot ticket! As with my previous blogpost, people knew of my disdain with this notable member's unpredictability. I opt her giving that famous 'salty face' pose during our turn. Ha-chin is really adorable though.

Salty Hachin

Conclusion

One of the disappointment I have for this event is that there aren't any 2-shot cheki. Apart from Tukuyomi Idol Project and Ariel Project, the major groups only has mobile 2-shots and sign. Chekis are just their pre-taken solo shots. Quite disappointed as I didnt nail Perorin's cheki and for Nemo's I have to trade with people.

Moe and Nemo Cheki

For the pixiv groups, the buppan was quite unpredictable. During 1st session was able to buy alot of tickets but come the 2nd session, it becomes limited to just 2 per person. Again Nijicon doesnt have any T-Shirt goods on sale. Guess you have to travel to their onsite events in Japan.

However, that being said, Taiwan is the one stop apart from Thailand where you can enjoy a good idol experience. Just buy a Scoot airlines ticket and endure 4 hours in the air. Given Taiwan close proximity to Japan (just around 2 hours), you can get a multitude of idols, both mainstream and underground, making a stop there. In fact the next upcoming event is Idolidge! Let's see who are the groups attending...

Oh dear, Akishibu Project and Nijicon! NOOOOOOOO!

Verdict:
★★★★☆stars (Because no cheki 2-shot with Nemo!)
